Despite the fact that they will have a new look for the 2010 college football betting year, NCAA football betting expectations are again high for the Florida Gators. NCAA football betting oddsmakers are going to have to get used to the Florida Gators devoid of star quarterback Tim Tebow, who was a considerable contributor in 4 college football betting seasons.
Head coach Urban Meyer stated his retirement right before the Sugar Bowl, only to change his mind and settle for a leave of absence instead, and Florida was humbled by Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. Junior John Brantley is a much more traditional style player and will take over for Tebow at QB. Brantley is a formidable player, but it could take some effort to prove that to Tebow’s passionate fanatics.
The Florida Gators will be fine as their recruiting has been ranked near the top since Meyer arrived in 2005, though they will need to take the place of 5 starters on offense and 6 on defense.
The Georgia Bulldogs have covered just 9 from 24 matches with the NCAA odds in the last 2 seasons as they have not lived up to expectations. Head coach Mark Richt changed defensive coordinators and has usually been at his best when operating under the radar.
Georgia brings back 10 starters on offense, though it will get redshirt freshman Aaron Murray for the new starting quarterback. Murray is surrounded by plenty of expertise. Georgia’s crucial match will be in their annual neutral site matchup against Florida at Jacksonville on October 30, and they have a quite favorable schedule that could make them a threatening challenger.
Despite the fact that they’ve bowled in 4 out of his 5 seasons, Steve Spurrier has yet to live up to the buzz that accompanied him when he took over as coach of South Carolina in 2005. Spurrier is a former college and pro football player who played with the University of Florida and then the San Francisco 49ers and the Buccaneers. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1966 and is also in the College Football Hall of Fame. He took the University of Florida Florida Gators to 6 SEC championships when he was their head coach. Spurrier signed on to be the head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks at the end of 2004 and coached his first year in 2005.
This looks to be Spurrier’s greatest squad yet at USC and if he can get junior quarterback Stephen Garcia to play with more consistency the Gamecocks could at last have that breakthrough year they’ve always dreamed of.
As they are on their third coach in 3 years and facing potential NCAA sanctions, Tennessee is a train wreck of a program.
The Vols were an unanticipated value with the college football lines a year ago in Lane Kiffin’s one year as coach however the turmoil and thirteen new starters will make the year hard as new head coach Derek Dooley is simply wanting to stop the bleeding. Kentucky and Vanderbilt also have new coaches for the 2010 NCAA football betting year and Kentucky has the chance to leapfrog into their 5th consecutive bowl.
