Dallas NFL Preseason Gambling
The most overhyped team in NFL betting is likely to be the Cowboys.
They open up by playing the Hall of Fame Game vs the Cincinnati Bengals on August 8th. In this match that can be viewed on NBC, the Cowboys will likely be liked in NFL preseason probabilities.
The Cowboys’ popular running back Emmitt Smith will be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August. Jerry Jones, their general manager, has been lobbying for the Cowboys to be included in the Hall of Fame game for the 1st time since 1999. The weekend when one of their own will be inducted in the Hall of Fame seems like the perfect possibility. It is particularly touching since Emmitt Smith participated in their last Hall of Fame game back in 1999. Smith, the NFL’s all-time leading rusher with 18,355 yards, played for the Cowboys from 1990-2002 and scored a record 164 rushing touchdowns, won four NFL rushing titles and gained 1,000 yards in a record 11 straight seasons.
This is the 1st Hall of Fame match for the Cincinnati Bengals since 1988. Along with Smith, the 2010 Hall of Fame Class features Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Dick LeBeau, Floyd Little, John Randle, and Jerry Rice.
The Dallas Cowboys will be highlighted five times in NFL preseason wagering in 2010. The Dallas Cowboys get an extra preseason match since they play the Hall of Fame game. 4 days after the Hall of Fame Game, they will host the Oakland Raiders. They travel to San Diego and Houston the next two weeks while their final preseason match will be at home against Miami.
As they’re showed at 10-1 in NFL preseason probabilities, the Cowboys are one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl Dallas is a reliable favorite at -125 to win the NFC East. Tony Romo, who threw for 4,483 yards last year with 26 TDs and only 9 interceptions, leads the Cowboys in offense. Including tight end Jason Witten, he has some gifted receiving options. Miles Austin had a breakout season a year ago and he looks to get some help this season as defense will need to contend with newcomer Dez Bryant. The running game is reliable with Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice.
The Dallas Cowboys had a very reliable defense in 2009 that was quite often disregarded. The reason the Cowboys won 11 matches last season was a defense that was 2nd in the league in points allowed. All-Pro linebacker DeMarcus Ware is a catalyst from the outside while Terence Newman leads a reliable secondary.
High anticipations may be the difficulty for the Cowboys this season. Owner Jerry Jones tells his team constantly that this year’s Super Bowl is in Dallas and he expects his team to be there. The Dallas Cowboys are not without some concerns though. They have a head coach in Wade Phillips who has never won anything and Dallas has a challenging National Football League schedule that features defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans and runner-up Indianapolis. Since Dallas is the most public team in the NFL, wagering the Cowboys in the preseason or in the normal season also means getting or receiving fewer points than is called for.
